The Smokestack Barons

The Smokestack Barrons is the brain child of veteran performer, recording engineer and stage technition Rodger Mason. Rodger has performed in countless bands all over the US and the Caribbean. From drumming and lead vocals for bands specialising in heavy rock to top forty, setting up shows for corperate events and mega rock stars like Bruce Springsteen and Radiohead, Rodger has a rare combination of experience that puts this project above and beyond most duo/trios and even some full bands. Many artists are using MIDI technology to make ends meet and sound like a bigger band, but The Smokestacks are going one better utilizing over ten thousand dollars in production gear and expensive software to make the bands sound not just bigger, but more like the record. As a vocalist Rodger has worked with such acts as 38 Special, Johnny Neel, The Outlaws and Three dog night. Rodger sang lead in Nashville based group "Granny White" with Sax man Jeff Coffin, grammy award winning guitarist Richard Aspinwall and Maynard Fergusins drummer Chris Brown. As a song writer Rodger has penned hundreds of songs and had scuts in Europe as well as in the states. Most recently The3 Outlaws cut "Trail of Tears" written by Rodger & Outlaws guitarist Chris Anderson. Rodger is a vocal chamellion usually sounding much like the artist who did the original recording, but also has his own distinct vocal style. Rodger has recently joined up with his son Taylor Mason who an almost identical voice and is playing bass. We are doing album rock, top forty and some blues and oplan to have hundreds of songs as well as some original material and a great light show to set the mood.
